Mary W Updating

Sept 17 9:00pm: Home now. Caught me off guard. But Mary is home, safe and sound. Very sore. But she made it from the car, to the steps, up the steps and to her recliner. With no physical help, just safegaurd watching over her. Her daughter Dayna and Son in Law Josh came over, and chipped in getting everything ready. What a blessing! We’ll be figuring out day to day what needs to be done, what help will be needed. She should be hearing from PT this week. Meanwhile,, yes, meanwhile …. That’s about all I can say! Thank you each and every one for your prayers and support for Mary.

Tuesday Sept 17: After all the different dr consultation, it was decided to do the “cementing the spine” procedure. Happened this morning. Mary came out of it with flying colors! She is looking and sounding like herself once again, and raring to go! Don’t know the exact timeline, but PT and OT have to evaluate, then her caseworker will get with Mary to determine the best, closest place for her Physical Therapy. Thank Jesus all has gone so well. But boy does she have cabin fever. Mary will be home before we know it. At that time, may ask for volunteers to help me finish getting her apartment ready. God Bless!

Sept 14 10:30PM: Hope this finds you well. Great news tonight. PT had brought in a back brace, but said it was not the right one. Neuro dr came in. Explained how the brace could help the spine fracture heal on its own. PT supposed to be bringing in proper brace. Dr left. (This was around 7pm). Mary connived me into helping her stand up at the edge of the bed, just to see what the pain level was like. She pulled herself out of bed, stood up on her own. Very little pain. Prayers being answered. So then, about 8:30 or so, Dr comes back in. After consulting with the other neuro partners, decision was made to skip the brace, and do the “cementing procedures”. This will give more immediate pain relief. Plus the brace could take too long for healing. Do these procedures now, so Mary can get on with her knee replacement. Everyone is agreed this sounds like the best plan. Procedures could be done as early as Monday. Now don’t stop your prayers. Mary is looking better and feeling better. This was a very traumatic injury. Great to see her getting back to her feisty self!

Sept 14 11 am: Mary sounds a lot better today. Still a lot of pain in her knee. Ortho doctor doesn’t seem too concerned about her back. Neuro has not said any more about doing procedures on her back. Focus is PT right now getting her strength back in her legs. More than likely at some point in time will go to Tell City for inpatient PT. Recommendations from all the doctors is to get that knee replacement taken care of! As I hear more, I’ll share it with you. I will be up there later this afternoon. Time to walk the dogs again before I leave.
Ray

09/13/2024 4:20PM Eastern: 3 inches of water has been removed from her knee. The back pain is primarily from an older acute L1 fracture. They are fitting Mary with a back brace this afternoon. Once she has had the back brace on, another x-ray will be taken WITH the brace to see its effect. They have moved away from doing the “cementing” procedures. Doctors also recommend that she move forward with the knee replacement.

09/13/2024: Family and Friends. I will post daily updates here. Of course, if there were any bad news, I would contact immediately. Mary had a fall in the parking lot on Saturday evening, Sept 7th. Over the past few days, more “hurts and damage” has presented itself. A lot of pain in back, knee and neck. At the moment, every department is testing, and we are waiting for scheduling on who is doing what. I don’t know, he’s on third. Laying flat in a hospital bed for 6 days, she has lost a lot of strength.
Here’s what we know. She had a brain bleed. It has absorbed, and is resolved. She re-injured her knee and back. She also had an infection, which may have been part of the root cause of her falling. Orthopedics is looking to drain the fluid off her knee. Neurology is talking about doing some fixes to ease the pain in her back while she is there. This is NOT major invasive surgery.
I do know how much you care. I can’t stress enough, she is still in a lot of pain, and her phone and texts are ringing off the hook. In order for Mary to get as much rest as she can, she turns “Do Not Disturb” on the phone. When she has the energy, she will check messages and voice mails, and return calls and messages. Out of respect for the need for her needing so much rest for recovery, please please don’t be burning the phone up. I will post updates here every evening. Thanks, and Mary thanks you too!

Highway 62 News Updates Feb 24 2024

Highway 62 Jubilee Music News Updates February 24 2024

It is time to share the news and updates from the Highway 62 organization.

Last year (2023), we distributed over 430 birthday and Christmas Gifts. We raised over $2600.00 for gifts, travel expenses, etc. This included over $1300 raised at our 1st annual Homecoming Gospel Festival! As an added bonus, our good friends at Les Masters Bands reached out to help make the residents of an Ohio Nursing Home, who were basically all alone on Christmas. Project Hero was able to join in to make their Holiday one to remember!

We ran out of room! Thanks to the many donations we received, we outgrew our small storage area, and had to upsize. We could still use 3- 5 tier 48″ shelves to get everything organized. Many unloaded boxes of gifts waiting to be distributed.

I would personally like to thank each and every group, and all individual members of each group for the time and testimony they have brought to the Highway 62 Jubilee and shared with hundreds through our concerts. In 2024, we want to be in a better position to help financially, in order to continue to make the music available.
My final thought. 2023 was a big test of faith. We have yet to know why in April last year FaceBook shut us down with no explanation and no recourse. People who made commitments, disappeared with no answers as to why. That is something that God has taught me. He calls us to service. To use our gifts and talents for His Kingdom. We have to let the Lord lead. We have to listen to His guidance. We hear His Voice through the Bible, the Word of God. He warns us about pride, and sadly we see so many that if the ministry doesn’t fit into their perceived thoughts or dreams, then they just walk away if it isn’t a million dollar ministry. Myself, Highway 62 Jubilee and Project Hero 62 is here to serve, one soul at a time. To share the Gospel of Jesus. In our case, the specific mission remains the same: Harnessing the power of Gospel music, the Highway 62 Jubilee mission is to meet the physical and spiritual needs of the elderly with clothing, books, music, food, birthday and holiday recognition while preserving the heritage of the gospel music a forgotten generation grew up with.
