Imagine… going to your mailbox, and there is a surprise cheery card. Handwritten and personally just for you. This is what the seniors on our program can expect. Brighten their day. Give them encouragement. Let them know there really is a real person thinking about them. This is one of the projects we strive to provide, “Cheerful Cards”; “Cards of Encouragement”.
Receiving a card of encouragement can mean far more to a lonely senior citizen than just receiving a piece of mail. It can remind them that they are remembered, valued, and still connected to others.
A thoughtful card can make them feel:
- ❤️ Remembered — “Someone thought about me today.”
- 🌷 Valued — It reassures them that their life and presence matter.
- 🤗 Less lonely — A personal message can create a feeling of companionship, even when no one is physically there.
- 😊 Loved and cared for — Kind words can bring genuine warmth and comfort.
- 🌟 Hopeful — Encouragement can give them something positive to look forward to.
- 📝 Connected to the community — A card creates a small but meaningful bridge between them and the outside world.
- 💕 Emotionally supported — Knowing someone took the time to write to them can be deeply comforting.
For some seniors, the card may be read several times and kept on a nightstand, refrigerator, or dresser as a reminder that someone cares.
